African American Art Collectors

African American Art Collectors by Afrika Midnight Asha Abney African American Art Collectors play a significant role in many artists throughout the Diaspora. I have had the pleasure of many distinguished African American Art Collectors. I think that there are many African American Art Collectors who do not appreciate or value the work of many artists, particularly abstract artists. Before, one begins to collect; one must learn the history of art. Despite this personal belief, I have had the pleasure of coming across a very useful networking site that enables me to connect with other liked minds which happens to be entitled: African American Art Collectors and can be viewed at http://aaacollectors.ning.com

Artist Statement

Artist Statement

Art is an important expression of life that documents the thoughts, experiences, and traditions of an individual. Art is the power to create a specific piece using various materials hightened by tone, volume, depth, and definition. Art is the tool for healing the mind, body and spirit. Art is the colors that glow upon the eyes of both the artist and the viewer. Art is the beauty of the human eye.

The artist frequently is engaged in a dual relationship: one with the materials used for creation; the other with the perceived audience. Allowing the audience to gather its own perspective and to find its own story.
I believe it is truly a blessing to be an artist.

For Art comes natural to me.

I am attempting to tap into good art show listings and I was wondering if you knew of any. Also, as far as collectors are concerned, is this site pretty good for connecting collectors with art?

Thank you for the comment and welcome, I appreciate it. I guess said amateur/hobbyist because I've never sold anything outside of graphic design and some artwork for a family member's book.

Hello Afrika,
This is peak (art) festival season in Florida so I've been on the road quite a bit lately. I thougt this network would almost run itself....especially with so many creative members. ....guess we need more direction huh? Nevertheless, business is great and getting better.
My next project is a summer youth art program. We have two community projects planned. A mural and a mosaic where the kids will get paid for their contributions. That newsletter sounds like a good idea, however, I may have to delegate that to you. What about you? Anything exciting happinin? Here's my latest painting....enjoy! Talk to you later.
